Sifu Ken Doyle
I have been involved in
the martial arts for over 19 years. I started training in 1981 in the
art of Tae Kwon Do. After a year, I was forced to stop training due
to lack of money. I started training again in 1985, studying the art of
Tae Kwon Do. After studying five years, My training was about
to change.
I was introduced to
Grand Master Kinkead through Sifu Bob McCloskey. Sifu McCloskey was training
kung fu with Grand Master Kinkead already. Sifu McCloskey told me that the
art he studied was Shaolin Kuntao. Never hearing of the art before, I
asked if it would be OK if I watched a class. Sifu McCloskey said he
would ask Grand Master Kinkead for him. You see Grand Master Kinkead taught a
very small class from his apartment. He took on only a few students in the
Philadelphia area. The next day Sifu McCloskey said it was OK to come to
class.
Upon meeting Grand Master Kinkead,
I knew he was unique. When Grand Master Kinkead found out that I had some training, he insisted that I participate in
class. I worked very hard in my Tae Kwon Do class. So,
when asked to participate in the Shaolin Kuntao class, I felt very
confident about my abilities. During the exercise called free form, I was made aware of how much
I did not know. I used all the
self defenses and attacks I was taught against Grand Master Kinkead. Every
self defense and attack used against the Grand Master was useless. Grand
Master Kinkead, hardly paying any attention to me stopped every attack
leaving me on the ground tapping like a typewriter. I had
found a home for my training.
Grand Master Kinkead, trained
me through the years helping me achieve the best of my abilities.
With the knowledge of Shaolin Kuntao from Grand Master Kinkead,
I went on to compete and win many championships and awards.
As of now I
am a fourth
degree gold sash under Grand Master Kinkead. I run a Shaolin Kuntao
school located in West Chester, Pa. I
also teach private lessons and seminars in the Philadelphia area.
I love to teach Shaolin
Kuntao. I enjoy performing demonstrations, instructing seminars and spending extra time with the students, teaching them
everything I can. There is never a dull moment in my class. I
always have new ideas, concepts and training drills. No two classes are alike.
